If your car breaks down, you fix it.

If you break your leg, you fix it.

Our government is broken.

So let's fix what's broken, and finally get results.

Where I Stand

Folks, it's not about conservatives or progressives — we aren't the problem. The two parties and big donors are the problem.

And I didn't always believe that.

I shrugged off our crazy government, inflation and how we treated each other. I figured “that's just politics.” I'd vote, complain a little, go back to work, and live my life.

But it's become so obvious that things are getting out of control. The cost of living. The debt. The arguing and fighting that's tearing us apart. And nobody's doing anything about it.

Now, I realize it's all working exactly the way it's supposed to. It's just working for certain people. The rich keep getting richer and wealthier. The poor struggle more and more. Us folks in the middle pay for most of it.

The question isn't should we do something about it. The question is how do we fix it.

We have to elect independents who commit 100% to refuse corporate money and to put ethics first. Because a handful of independents in Congress can force the two sides to work together.

This isn't impossible. It's what people throughout our district and across America are asking for.

I'm Andy Kaplan. I'm an independent running for Congress. They don't think for me. They don't control me. I don't accept that this is the way it has to be.

Most Americans agree that government isn't working the way it should

Two things in our political system are broken: money has too much influence, and the two-party system keeps us divided. That's why I'm running as a Forward Party candidate and making a public pledge to change the rules in Washington that let special interests control the system so Government can focus on solving the problems Americans deal with every day.

Andy Kaplan with his family in the community

About Andy

I've spent thirty years in healthcare. My wife Patty has been a public school teacher for 27 years. We have three kids, a new grandchild, and a deep belief that the opportunities that built our family's life are slipping away. We chose South Carolina 15 years ago, and I'm running because it's time to fight for what matters.

"My grandfather taught me a simple rule: speak up when something is wrong and back your words up with action."
